PYRITE occupies a decommissioned gold vault 400 meters below the Harz Mountains. Five miners work by lantern-light, polishing cubic crystals of iron disulfide into games that shimmer with false promise. We don't use engines; we use chisels and lies. The screen is a mirror that reflects what the player wants to see. A game is a nugget of fool's gold, and a nugget is a promise that will never be kept.
A title begins as a raw crystal — ugly, angular, honest. We cleave it along cubic planes, polish each face to a mirror finish, and present it as treasure. The interaction is the seduction; the win condition is a player who walks away richer in experience than they arrived. If the glitter fades, the crystal is thrown back into the seam. The vault provides the darkness; the lantern provides the glitter. The miner provides the lie.
The atelier keeps one rule from the First Cleavage: *if they can see the trick, it's not fool's gold*. The mark is a cubic stamp in oxidized bronze, struck once per title. The vault provides the weight; the crystal provides the shine. The fool provides the belief.
